The patchwork linen pants are inspired by the Ifugao rice terraces. The Ifugao people have shaped their rice fields along the mountainsides, a practice stretching back 2,000 years. Passed on from generation to generation, their wisdom and traditions have created a stunning landscape. These terraces display farming skills and showcase a beautiful bond between people and their environment.

Materials

These pants are made with handmade linen. They have an elastic, drawstring waist adjustable to a wide range of sizes. hearts are airbrushed on. Handwoven inabel textile from Ilocos Norte, Philippines is placed in a pattern that pays homage to the shape of rice terraces. The inabel patchwork is designed to fray and add character over time.

“Abel” is the Ilocano word for weave, and “inabel” can be interpreted to mean any kind of woven fabric.  It is known for its softness, intricate patterns, and strength. 

Ilocos weavers use hardwood pedal looms to weave these fabrics made from cotton. Some patterns can take over a month to create one yard of fabric.

These pants are made with deadstock and scrap inabel fabric in chocolate brown and pink.

****Due to the nature of our wash/treatment process small imperfections/differences may appear, these characteristics are considered to be a part of the design and not a flaw.

Care instructions

Wash with cold water on gentle cycle. Dry on low heat or hang dry.
